(Motorsport-Entire.com) – Ferrari no longer produces automotive prototypes. The traditional company from Maranello has partially converted its factory: where otherwise expensive sports car test models come off the assembly line, breathing protection valves and protective mask accessories are now being manufactured – to support the public in the fight against the corona virus.

In this project, Ferrari is not a lone fighter, but only produces the parts that a manufacturer has developed for diving equipment. These have been designed so that they can be used in an emergency to ventilate patients with acute respiratory disorders.
Ferrari is supplying further parts to a company that converts existing diving goggles into protective masks for employees in the medical field. These masks are designed to reduce the risk of infection for treating people.
According to Ferrari, Maranello is to produce “hundreds of pieces of equipment in the coming days”. These are then sent for further processing and then distributed to hospitals in Bergamo, Genoa, Modena, Sassuolo and Medicina.
In addition to Ferrari, other Formula 1 teams have already made their coronavirus control facilities available , including the world championship teams Mercedes and McLaren.
