Michael Schumacher, who is still recovering from severe head injuries he suffered in 2013 while skiing in the French Alps, has been living in Gland for many years, in an elite location beside Lake Geneva.
The seven-time Formula One world champion, whose assets are estimated at more than 700 million euros, owns a number of properties, yet the Schumacher family has lived on a luxurious estate on the shores of Lake Geneva for many years.
The Schumacher family, who strictly protect their privacy, especially in the years after Michael’s accident, live in one of the three houses that can be seen on the estate. It is the main building with an exceptional view of the lake.
The four-storey complex, called “Villa La Reserve”, lies just off the shores of Lake Geneva overlooking the Swiss Alps and is surrounded by forest and a high fence that prevents access to the estate.
Plans to build the estate initially met with strong opposition from locals to the nearby town of Nyon – which is also home to the World Wide Fund for Nature and the International Union for Conservation of Nature – who were concerned about the building’s impact on the environment.
On the estate we also find a guest house and a third building in which Michael Schumacher has his office, in which the legendary racer held all business meetings. Also in this building is Schumacher’s collection of his won laurels and race cars from his rich racing career.
