Charles Leclerc made his debut at the wheel of Ferrari this season, where he was awaited by four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel. Although no one expected young Monacan to threaten a reputable teammate at the outset, Leclerc did just that.
After half the season, the Ferrari racers are extremely evenly matched, and Leclerc's point lag can be attributed mainly to his two departures. Leclerc scored two poles in the first half of the season, while Vettel started the race in Canada from the best starting position.

Leclerc spent the first half of the season 124 laps in the race lead, while Vettel was significantly less successful in this statistical category. On the other hand, Leclerc did have some skids in the races, which cost him a considerable number of points, although Vettel was not without faults.
