Former F1 racer Scott Speed broke his spine in the Rallycross US Championship race after a hard landing after one of the jumps.
The former Toro Rosso racer competed with the Saubaru race for the Nitro Games Series, and the American already suffered a severe spinal injury in the first leg of the qualification after suffering a hard landing after one of the jumps.
Speed completed the qualifications and exited the race itself, and the American racer was then taken to hospital for further investigations that showed more serious injuries.
Speed revealed the severity of his injuries on social media:
“After a hard landing, I broke my spine. Magnetic resonance imaging showed three fractures and now I am waiting for what the surgeons will suggest. Thanks to all of you who support me. Yesterday was the most painful day of my life. “
