Red Bull Chief Advisor Dr Helmut Marko explained the decision by the Milton Keynes team to bring Alexander Albon into the ranks after half a season while Pierre Gasly returned to Toro Rosso.
Pierre Gasly replaced Daniel Ricciard in the Red Bulls first season this season, but the Frenchman did not find himself in the first half of the season and was no match for teammate Max Verstappen.
The Red Bull team has made the decision to replace Alexander Albon at the next race at Spa Francorchamps, while Gasly returns to Toro Rosso to join Daniel Kvyat.
While many would expect that the more experienced Daniil Kvyat would gain an edge over Albon, Helmut Marko explained why they chose the Red Bull at rookie.
The albon race is great and this year everything has been pulled out of the car. In my opinion, it is better than the Kvyat we already know and know how fast it is. He has made a lot of progress this season, but after considering all the factors, we chose Albon. His contract is valid for 9 races, but after the end of the season, we will decide who will race with Max for the Red Bull race 2020.
