After falling behind his team mate before his last attempt, Charles Leclerc defeated all the competition with a fantastic final lap and won the best starting position. Lewis Hamilton, who was the first favorite of the qualifiers, was just under two tenths behind Leclercom, while Sebastian Vettel was a few thousandth behind.

Leclerc won the third consecutive pole position and the fifth in this season.

Max Verstappen [Red Bull] is ranked for the top three, and only Valtteri Bottas [Mercedes] will start tomorrow's race from the fifth start.

The Finn will be run by Alexander Albon in the third Red Bull, with Carlos Sainz in the third row [Mclaren].
