Max Verstappen and the other three Red Bull and Toro Rosso drivers racing with Honda powertrains will start a new powertrain specification weekend in Russia, meaning they are waiting for the Sochi race penalty of starting points.
Honda has officially confirmed before the race weekend in Russia that Max Verstappen, Alexander Albon, Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat will be launching a brand new ICE unit in Sochi.

Verstappen, Albon and Gasly will each receive five starting points for replacing the individual component, while replacing the entire powertrain with Dannil Kvyat, and the Russian racer will start the domestic race from the last start.
Changing to the Russian GP race is tactical, since Honda wants to start the domestic GP race with fresh engines, and at the same time it is the last scheduled change, and all four racers are expected to ended the season without any penalties.
