Robert Kubica will join the Alfa Romeo team this season 2020 as a backup and development driver. Together with the Pole, his personal sponsor, Polish oil company PKN Orlen, will also join the Swiss team, which will become the main sponsor of the Swiss team.
Cubic returned to Formula One starting lineup with Williams 2019 but left the Pole after the season team from Grove.
His new role will be part of a “multi-year partnership” between Alfa Romeo and PKN Orlen, the Polish oil company, to become the main sponsor of the F1 team. 2020 named “Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN”.
“I'm really excited to be starting this new chapter in my career and joining the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN team,” Kubica said.
“This team has a special place in my heart, and I'm glad to see some faces from my years at Hinwil.
“The times and circumstances are obviously different, but I am sure that I will find the same determination and hunger for top results. I look forward to helping Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN take the next step forward. ”
Cubic raced between 2007 and for the Swiss team when the team performed under the BMW brand.
