Fernando Alonso quickly forgot the disappointment of the previous day and finished fifth on the third day of the Dakar Rally. The victory was celebrated in the third stage by his great friend and fellow Spaniard Carlos Sainz, who beat all the competition with Mini.
Alonso has a good performance from 63. of the place he occupied after yesterday's troubles, advanced to 32.
The third stage brought the fight between two-time WRC Series Champion Carlos Sainz, 13 two-time Dakar winner Stephane Peterhansel and last year's winner Nasser Al Attiyah in his Toyota Hilux.
Sainz also took the lead in Dakar's total in the win.
