Formula 1 stopped again this season on the track in Austin, which also hosts MotoGP motorcycle championship races. The F1 weekend in Texas belonged to Max Verstappen and Red Bull, and the lap in Austin allows for a direct comparison of the two most prestigious racing series.
The MotoGP Championship motorcycle is characterized by exceptional acceleration and incredible top speed, while the Formula 1 car is superior in terms of braking power, and its “downforce” is simply fantastic. Due to the mentioned factors, the MotoGP motorcycle has no chance against the F1 car, which was also shown on the Austin track.
Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia reached the pole position in the MotoGP Championship in Austin this year, with a time of 2: 02.781, which was almost 30 seconds slower than Max Verstappen in Red Bull, who achieved a time of 1: 32.910.
Given the difference, we can therefore conclude that a Formula 1 race car on the track in Austin would need about four laps to overtake the MotoGP by a full lap.
