According to unofficial information, in the upcoming Formula One season, the sprint Saturday race should be tested only in some selected racing weekends and not throughout the F1 season.
The planned redesign of the race weekend format, part of which would also be a Formula 2-style sprint race, was revealed by the fastest sporting technical chief Ross Brawn before the race in Belgium.
Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto confirmed in an interview with Gazzetto dello Sport that the teams had reached an agreement on an additional “qualifying” race:
“All teams, including us, said yes. It should happen next year. “
According to initial information, Saturday's qualifying race should only be carried out in the three selected race weekends, and if successful, the changes would be fully implemented in the F1 season 2021.
