This shows the big caveat when hailing Honda’s progress and claims that they caught up to Merc and Ferrari.

They likely run at higher modes, for longer, sacrificing reliability for short term gain and long term pain. Great for sniping victories, not for a sustained title challenge.

Only when they can deliver engines lasting 7 races without compromising performance will they have truly caught up. Let’s hope they get there next year.

For this year, maximizing victories is fine, just take a mahoosive double penalty at Monza, bring in 2 fresh new engines for the rest of the season.
