I don’t think it’s any of that. It’s more his adoption of the ‘Celebrity’ lifestyle that irks most people. It’s a bit like David Beckham in that respect. They both come across as showy and pratty but are decent people when it comes down to it.
Also, no one knows who Lewis Hamilton is anymore. Even his interviews come across as if he’s rehearsing a script. Watch his interviews from 2007/2008 and it’s like he’s a completely different person.
In contrast, Danny Ric, who everyone adores, just comes across as genuine and down-to-earth every time he’s on camera. He’s the same person he was he entered F1. Even the people who have known his since he was a kid, say he’s been like that forever and it’s not an act.
People also hate it when celebrities jump on Environmental issues, whilst they fly around the world in private jets and are photographed on 100 ft yachts with two or three other people in it. It’s hypocritical to say the least.
