Kelvin van der Linde and Mattia Drudi go to the delivery for Audi with the rookie take a look at Formula E in Marrakech , A trace after the fifth season run of the series on 29. February, the two youngsters from South Africa and Italy have a trace of the opportunity to gain experience in the purely electric series and at the same time to support the Group Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler in the development work.

Both Kelvin van der Linde and Mattia Drudi have long been part of the Audi family – but in a different discipline. The 21 year old Drudi belongs since February 2019 to the driver squad of Audi Sport customer racing and started with an Audi R8 LMS among others at the 24 hours of fun. Drudi has supported the two Formula E regular drivers Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi in the past few months with the work in the simulator. “The Take a look at is a completely new challenge that I am extremely looking forward to. I have never driven a formula car, so there is a lot to learn, because in Formula E the demands on the driver are particularly complex and diverse than in GT racing, ”says Kelvin van der Linde. “I have been following the series for a long time and notice how it is becoming increasingly important in the course of the climate discussions. Although I am from South Africa, it will actually be my first visit to another African country. ”

After many hours in the virtual world, Mattia Drudi is now entering “real” Formula E life. “I have already supported the Formula E project with assignments in the simulator. Cool to be part of the Audi team on a racing weekend now. I look forward to working with this group, ”says Drudi. “I will be there the whole weekend and am excited to see how the whole process and the atmosphere are on site. Already on TV the races look mega exciting and a lot of fun for drivers and spectators. The experience in the racing car will surely also help me when working in the simulator. ”

For the Group Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler, which completed the fifth round of the Formula E season with its regular drivers Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi on the day before the check in Marrakech, the commitment of the two beginners means valuable support. “We are very happy to have Mattia and Kelvin in our cars on the track. They were both already in the simulator and will prepare together with our engineers for the Take a look at, ”says team principal Allan McNish. “You will get a lot of time in the car – even more than Daniel and Lucas in a whole race day. They should get a feeling for Formula E, but at the same time support usa in the preparation for the next races. ”

The rookie take a look at on Sunday, March 1st 2020, is divided into a morning and an afternoon session. Only pilots who have not yet completed a Formula E race and are not in possession of an E license are allowed to participate.
