Looks like something Ferrari would do

level 2

In fact they did back then in 2014, in FP1 of Bahrain GP.

level 2

They have with Alonso if I remember correctly.

level 1

Williams pitstops were an absolute mess in 2015, then they spend tonnes of money and time on improving it and now are one of the best teams there are in the pits.

level 2

if they can improve their car so much as well… WILLIAMS WDC AND WCC 2021 AND BEYOND!!!

level 1

why would you ever do this?

level 2

They didn’t do it on purpose.

level 2

I mean they used to do this back in the days.. but this was just an accident and isn’t allowed anymore, they were forced to pit again.

level 1

Wouldn’t it be cool to add this as a way to make strategies more interesting? Maybe you want more grip at the front-end so you mount softs but want a stable rear so you put on mediums. Just an idea.

level 1

A clever ploy to work around the tyre regulation !

level 1

Say there was a track where front tyre degradation was much higher than rear tyre degradation, would it be optimal for teams to run a set up like this? Instead of all 4 tyres being the same.
