Jean-Éric Vergne was the first driver ever to defend his Formula E world champion title. (**************************************************************************************) After two intense races in the Red Hook District of New York's Brooklyn neighborhood, Jean-Éric Vergne crossed the finish line as Formula E World Champion. The decision was made in the last race of the season 2019.

Mark Preston, Team Principal DS TECHEETAH: “With the numerous incidents on Saturday, the final weekend of the Formula E season could not have been any worse for us. All the more we are happy that the weekend ended with two titles. I congratulate Jean-Éric and the entire team on site and at our development site. Motorsport is a team sport. In one racing team, one wheel has to move in the other and our team ran like clockwork. “(*******************************************************************************************************) Display

Xavier Mestalan Pinon, Director DS Performance: “We started four years ago in the Formula E Championship to make it clear for us. Now we have achieved the goal: We are Formula E champion! With our racing team DS TECHEETAH we became first in the team ranking and Jean-Éric Vergne also won the title in the drivers' championship. This is a historic moment that fills us with great pride. Achieving this kind of performance requires being in the right place with the right people at the right time. Today we succeeded. We did it! “

Jean-Éric Vergne, two-time Formula E World Champion: “It's incredible. The weekend did not start as I had hoped. Even the last race of the season was not perfect. Nevertheless, we have reached our goal and won both titles. I can not quite grasp that I was the first racing driver in Formula E history to win two titles. I thank my fantastic team – we all won! “(************************************************************************************************) André Lotterer: “Congratulations to Jean-Éric and to the entire team. I have never heard of a comparable team in my career so far. Everyone deserves the double victory. I would have liked to have contributed more to our success this weekend. However, it is important that we are world champions in driver and team ranking! ”
