Just goes to show that at the end of the day, they’re all just humans

Smart driving from Vettel. He’s not the young, put himself first driver he was at Red Bull. He’s been around for 10 years and knew what was expected of him today given his position and pace.
Not a Ferrari or vettel fan by any stretch but I hope they get a decent package together come the next set of regs so he can have a decent go at a 5th title.

Many people said that if Seb were to lose his number 1 spot at Ferrari to Charles, his only option would be to retire. I fully disagree, I think as today showed he can be a great supporting driver for the team like Kimi has been in the past
level 2
I’m not sure a 4 time world champion would accept that. He seems like he’s about ready to move on in life rather than racing for many more years. I hope he stays because I like him as a person but I don’t see how he would accept to be a supporting driver after all he has done. It wouldn’t give him justice.

Imagine Michael Schumacher uttering those words.
Just wouldn’t happen.
level 2
Well Schumacher himself was a team player to Irvine in his return in 1999.
level 2
The thing is that when Michael played in favor of his team mates he never talked about it. Eddie Irvine called him the best number 1 driver and the best number 2 driver after Malaysia 1999.
level 2
Why bring up Schumacher when he has nothing to do with this?
level 2
You never know, the world could discover another side of Michael. But yeah, most likely no.
level 2
He has done similar things though. He gave USA 2002 to Barrichello as payback for Ferrari screwing Rubinho over earlier in the year, and that’s despite them being on poor terms.
level 2
To be fair, Schumacher wouldnt find himself in that position. I’m going to get downvoted bringing up the obvious but Vettel wasn’t nearly as quick as Leclerc today. If Hamilton was going to overtake Vettel anyways, the least Vettel can do it help Leclerc.
level 2
So what? People have different personalities and to be honest I like recent years Vettel a lot more than I ever liked Schumacher in that regard.

Seb deserves credit for the cushion that ultimately proved decisive. But I also think the praise is a little overstated. Charles was better all weekend and deserved P1. Then Seb wasn’t able to take quick advantage of being in P2, which everyone said was the place to be at Spa. Then the race unfolded such that Charles had a legitimate shot at winning the race while Seb never really did. So, yeah, he definitely did Charles a solid by doing all he could to keep Lewis at bay for as long as he did, but that’s really about the minimum you’d expect from a teammate given the circumstances I think. Maybe I’m way off.
