What’s with spanish drivers and their love for cycling?

I think it’s most drivers not just the Spanish but it’s true there’s a big culture in Spain surrounding cycling.

McLaren is the sponsor of the World Tour team Bahrain Merida which despite the name is an Italian team. From next year on they’ll be the name sponsors as well. This looks more like a publicity thing than his “passion for cycling”. I believe the only serious cyclist on the grid is Kubica who often rides with Alessandro Petacchi. Others probably do it to stay fit.
